The Playing 21 Program made its debut at the Global Gaming Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, in October 2003. This is the largest gaming show in the world. The companies that supply all the games (IE. slot machines, table games, new products and so forth) attend these shows, and sell their products to the casinos.

This particular show had about 15,000 attendees. These were people from the industry, most from actual casinos, who were there to see what was new, so they could buy them for their own casino. Many media personnel from the industry also attend. The media write about new products, they even have the Top 20 new products of each year.

We decided to bring the Playing 21 Program and debut it at this show. We shocked many people to say the least. We were in turn shocked, by even more people! The reason we were shocked is that many of these casino executives laughed when they listened to our story. They weren’t laughing at the Playing 21 Program, not at all. Most understood exactly right then how this was going to hurt them in the long run. We even heard many say, “You can’t sell that to the players!” See, that is the response we were expecting.

The reason we were shocked was that when we told them that many casinos were handing out misleading information to their players, the people at the show truly thought it was funny. They did laugh often, right to our faces. We were even told, “Casinos are in the business to beat the players and can do whatever they want to do.” Wow!!!

Three Years, 20,000 Man Hours

The dream of the Playing 21 Program was about 21 years old when it finally made its debut. Ironic, but very true. Scott McBride started playing with the game at a very young age. Many years before the project actually started, Scott and his cousin, Ray Duplin, Jr. seriously started analyzing the game. They found many discrepancies amongst what casinos were handing out, and in books they had read.

Although they had developed their own theories to the game, McBride and Duplin were not the type to just write a book. They searched for, and found, a company in Northern Ontario, Canada who could actually make the Playing 21 Program. It was no easy feat to accomplish. The program took three years of development, and approximately 20,000 man hours.

By breaking the game down, as Scott and Jr. have done, they could now prove everyone before them as either right or wrong. Any answer a player needs to play the game, and more importantly win at it, are shown to him in the program. Although many things, such as breaking down any hand you can ever receive against any up card, and showing this to you at 21 different counts and 45 categories, no matter how you counted cards was incredible, they went even further. The Playing 21 Program is a full-blown breakthrough. It broke open a game, leaving it up to millions of players to now bring it to its knees. If enough players have this program and use it as it to its, and their, potential, casinos will have no choice, in years to come, but to alter the way the game is currently played.
