"Why would you HIT a Hard 14 one hand but yet the very next hand, you STAY on the same Hard 14?" Don't over-think this, it isn't a trick question.

Does This Make Any Sense?

Well I hope you are saying, “Yes it does make sense to me. For the first hand, when I Hit the Hard 14, the dealer had a ‘Better Up-Card', say a 7, 8, 9, or face card. I had to hit a Hard 14 against these cards, otherwise I am dead in the water. The dealer usually makes a solid hand when starting with a 7, 8, 9, or face card up.”

On the other hand, “Of course I never hit the second Hard 14, the dealer was showing a smaller ‘Bust' card. I don't hit Hard 14's against the 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6, do you think I am NUTS!”

Was that a question? If it was, by your response I don't think you are nuts at all. You are right. This however tells us something very powerful about the game Blackjack.

You changed the way you played the same hand dependant on the Dealer's Up-Card. Of course you did, for the ENTIRE game revolves around that Up-Card. Every thing we do in the game is played around which card the Dealer flips up as their starting card. VERY Interesting!!!

Now ask yourself this: "What card(s) would you like to see the Dealer start with every hand as their Up-Card?"

I hope you picked the smaller cards, maybe the 3-6. If you did, you definitely are not nuts. You have played the game and you understand you win most often when the dealer flips up those smaller cards as their Up-Card. It is a fact. You definitely do.

The Dealer's Up-Card is without doubt one of the MOST important things in the game Blackjack. This is combined with what he does with this Up-Card when he gets it. When he Bust's ‘normally' on this hand, the table will win. When he starts Busting more often than normal, the table makes a killing.

The reasons for this is simple. The most ‘Action' in the game Blackjack occurs when the Dealer flips over a smaller ‘Bust' card. When the Dealer starts with that small card, we are Doubling and Splitting at a much higher rate than against the cards like the Face cards. We do this because we know we win more often and these are times we need to capitalize and make money.
