Paying A Blackjack 

Splitting Aces and getting two face cards, or hitting the exact card you need when doubling down is exciting, but nothing puts a smile on your face like getting a two card Blackjack.  Blackjack is both the most common name for the game 21, as well as its most famous hand.  Specifically, it is a combination of an Ace and face in the first two cards.  It does not matter if the ace is the first or comes in the back-door as the second card. 

The significance of a Blackjack is its bonus payout.  Most casinos will pay 1½ times the players wager when they receive a Blackjack, or 3:2.  If the casino receives a Blackjack the player only loses their initial wager.  Remember, the Blackjack payout does not count after hands are split, it is only the first two cards of a hand. 

Most times the player will receive his payout immediately, or when the dealer comes to their turn in the proper rotation.  However, if the dealer flips an Ace as their Up Card, they will ask all players for Insurance.  Since you have a Blackjack you now may take what is called Even Money, or do nothing at all.  If you choose Even Money, the dealer will immediately pay you equal to your initial wager and the hand for you, is over.  If you choose not to take Even Money, the hand becomes a push, and you win nothing if the dealer has a Blackjack, or you win the bonus 3:2 if they do not. 

If the dealer flips up a face card as his Up Card, you will get paid if he peeks and does not have Blackjack.  If he peeks and does have a Blackjack, the hand is a push.  If the dealer does not peek at his hole card, you have to wait until he plays out his hand and pays the table before you get the bonus. 

There is no rule that says you cannot double down on your Blackjack as well.  It is something a true Blackjack player would never do, but if you are just a complete idiot who does dumb things for no apparent reason in life, we highly recommend the play. 

Often, players who just got a Blackjack will tip the hand.  If you had an odd dollar bet out, you receive a fifty-cent piece.  Dealers very much appreciate you using this for them as a tip. Remember, although we have it in for the casinos, we actually like their employees.  People who save all their fifty-cent pieces, and play two at a time, are usually people who don’t tip much in life to begin with.
