Making Your Wager
“More Important Than Any Win!”

Upping The Ante

In front of every player on the Blackjack table is some sort of betting area.  It is most often a box or a circle, where the player will wager or bet.  The word wager and bet are basically the same and often are used in place of one another.

Before each hand is played, each player wishing to participate in the hand must place a wager.  No wagers in the betting area will mean no cards are dealt to that area when the dealer deals, and once the dealer starts dealing, no bets may be added or altered.

All bets must conform to the table minimum and maximum.  This is the least amount the player must bet on every hand, and the most a player may bet on each hand.  As a general rule, when you are wagering different chips, always place the chips of higher denomination low in the stack.

If, for any reason, you need to know how much you have wagered, ask our good friend the dealer, who is the only person allowed to touch the bet once the hand starts.  The dealers always help out greatly, and will gladly tell you anything you need to know if you are taking Insurance, splitting or doubling.

Only when the hand is complete and the dealer has either paid everyone, taken your wager, or pushed your hand may you touch the wager or place a new bet.  Remember, if you want to leave a winning bet ride on the next hand, you will need to restack the chips in proper order.

To double down or split, you simply place an additional wager beside or behind your current wager, and advise the dealer of what you wish to do.  The dealer will also make appropriate change for you any time you need certain chip denominations.

Placing a tip for the dealer is often a nice thing to do, which they appreciate.  It is done by giving the dealer a chip, or by playing a chip for them beside your bet.  If you win, they win.

In most casinos you cannot bet fifty-cent amounts.  The tray usually does not have twenty-five cent pieces that would be needed if you received a two-card Blackjack.  If you receive a one-card Blackjack, it may be that you are intoxicated and should look for he nearest exit.  Casinos with $2.50 chips, may or may not allow you to bet one of them. Just ask the dealer.  If playing the $2.50 chips is allowed, the casino must pay you correctly, or to the next highest denominated chips.

Some casinos allow other players to place a bet with a player.  This is big in Quebec, Canada, as well as certain casinos throughout the country.  Most casinos will allow players to play more than one betting area, but often the player has to double the table minimum bet.  Other rules may force the player to give one up if more room is needed for new players to play, as well as require bets of different wager areas to be equal.  These minor rules depend on the casino; just ask.

Table limits are often increased or changed.  Signs must be posted, usually 20 minutes in advance.  Most casinos will allow players who were previously playing at the lower limits to continue with that minimum bet.

Wager vs. Win

McB Duplin has developed many theories with the game Blackjack.  It is important all players know the importance of one wager.  Each hand has a mathematically correct way, and a mathematically incorrect way to play it.  It isn’t guesswork or luck.  If a player loses just one hand they could have won, that wager is lost forever.  Even winning the next hand does not bring it back; instead of being 2 units up, you are even.

A wager won is more important than a hand won.  You can win 1 out of 10 hands played, and still win more money than the player who has won 9 out of 10 hands.  If you lost $10 on 9 straight hands, but bet $100 and won on the last hand, you are up $10.  If I won 9 straight hands at $10, but lost the 10th hand at $100, I am down $10.  You won 10% of your hands, and I won 90% of mine.  But you are up $10, and I am down $10.

This clearly demonstrates the value of wagering.  McB Duplin has taken all this into consideration when we developed the best program in history, the Playing 21 Program.  A player may now bet any number of units they wish to bet, and if they count cards, any amount at any count.  It is believed that combining card counting and strategic wagering is what allows the player to actually win at the game Blackjack.  This is clearly shown in our Win/Loss Reports as well as the Hand Breakdown vs. Dealer Up Card.  Take a minute and see how instrumental these are in our quest to make you the best Blackjack player you can possibly be.

In the site we also have areas regarding strategy for betting.  In the 21’s Voice monthly letter, share up to the minute top strategies that are sent in from 1,000’s of players like you, ultimately making us all the best Blackjack players in the entire world.
